I'm sure there are plenty of artists I appreciate the work of but don't particularly Others, fair enough, you don't want to give anything away, I'm not gonna dig. Course, for the bands I love most it does come with an interest in their history, their experiences etc and for me it's only about finding out what inspired their work, what made em who they are etc. I love my music and yeah, some of my favourite bands will carry their political views across in their music. I suppose if I were inclined to boycott or owt it's quite fortunate that we're looking 15 years since he did owt I liked. I can think Morrissey's a dick but I'm still allowed to like his music. Loads of their stuff is about the outsider, the shy and awkward, heartbroken hopeless romantic etc. Summat like that anyway, great song but again, not exactly provocative. Paint A Vulgar picture, record labels take the piss, repress with a bonus track or a tacky badge. Not overtly anyway, fair enough Meat Is Murder will rub people up the wrong way and inspire a bit of veggie baiting, but it's hardly controversial. It's not like The Smiths were ever that much of a vehicle for Morrissey's political views. They just fell down my pecking order quite naturally as I discovered other bands. No tattoos, patches, quiffs or NHS glasses or owt mind. I was quite a big fan of The Smiths 15-20 years ago in my late teens early 20s. Nope, separate the artist from the art, Morrissey above is a perfect example.
